synopsis draft 1

Day 1              

John Smith wakes up staring up at the ceiling, his eyes are only slightly open, his eyes have bags, he stares blankly at the ceiling. He turns off his alarm. He opens the cabnet and grabs the toothpaste. He stares blankly at himself in the mirror as she brushes his teeth. John puts a slice of bread in the toaster as he finishes putting on his tie. John leaves his home with the slice of toast in his mouth. John finishes the toast as he walks up to the train station, he buys a ticket and waits at the train station. John sits alone in the train staring blankly at the seat in front of him. John walks out of the train station, he enters the office and sits at his desk. He starts to do his work, an older looking man walks up to John’s desk and drops a large amount of documents on his desk. John turns and looks at the man which is his boss and then the large amount of paper on the desk, he drops his head on the desk.

 The sun is setting and there are less employees  John turns off the computer and leaves the office. He boards the train. John opens the door to his home. John lays motionlessly in bed staring at the ceiling.

Day 2

John is staring at the ceiling the alarm is ringing, he ignores it. He looks at the mirror whilst brushing his teeth, his eyes are bloodshot, his skin looks grey. He puts his tie on and looks at himself again blankly. He grabs the piece of toast and heads for the front door. He boards the train. He stares blankly at the outside world as he passes it by. He gets off the train. He enters the office, the workload he had the previous day has visibly gotten bigger. He sits at his desk, and looks at the monitor blankly.

He is waiting at the printer for his work to print, it is extremely slow. The person behind him waiting starts to tap their foot and starts to moan “come on John, its a printer even a simpleton like you could understand how to use it”. Johns eye starts to twitch and he clenches his fist. “John you’re taking the piss now, other people need to use it as well”. John turns around and walks right up to the employee, “Fuck you and your stupid work, fuck the printer and fuck this job”. John throws the work he had been holding and shoves the other employee out the way as he walks away.

John is seen sitting in an office with the previously shown boss, the boss is walking in a circle as he shouts at John. The door is shut but the voices are still audible due to the boss shouting. John is silent sitting still in the chair.

John walks out of the building and loosens his tie. He boards the train. He exits the station. He opens his front door, he drops his briefcase as he enters his home. He collapses in his bedroom, he starts to weep like a child as he lays in bed alone. He falls asleep still in his uniform.

Day 3

John wakes up in the exact same position he was crying in the night before, he turns the alarm off.

He goes to the mirror and looks at himself like usual, he looks disgusted at what is looking back at him. Bloodshot eyes, large dark circles around eyes, messy facial hair and messy hair. He looks at the time on his phone and leaves his home. John reaches the train station and goes to buy his ticket at the machine. He types out the first few letters of the train station next to his work, he clicks one adult ticket and goes to click buy but before his finger hits buy he takes a long pause. He takes his hand away from the machine but then brings it back and buys the ticket. He walks to the correct platform and waits for the train. His feet are past the yellow lines at the edge of the platform, he stares blankly straightforward till the train comes. The train blocks the view of John, people get off the train and everyone who was waiting at the platform board the train. The train then starts up and starts to move, one person is left at the platform, John. He stands frozen for a few seconds but then he turns and walks to the other side of the platform leaving his briefcase and gets on a different train. John sits down on the train and stares out of the window; the urban areas start to disappear and are replaced with more scenic views of endless green fields. The train passes multiple stations until John gets up and exits the train, the train station is deserted with not a single trace of human existence around apart from John. He leaves the station and looks in both directions before deciding which way to walk. As he walks, his phone starts to ring, he looks at the screen and sees it is his boss. He declines the call and then turns his phone off. He leaves the pavement and starts to walk up a hill. He continues to walk up the hill until he suddenly stops turns and looks around at the places around him. He sits on the grass, takes of his jacket and puts it on the grass behind him and lays his head on it. He smiles and closes his eyes. Everything starts to fade to black which is then disrupted by the noise of john’s alarm. John wakes up and stares at his ceiling for a few seconds and then picks up his phone and looks at the time. The screen shows the day, Monday. John throws the phone and lays back in bed staring blankly at the ceiling.
